From Partynice and Ołtaszyn to Wysoka

Partynice and Ołtaszyn – Wrocław’s Wilanów, located in the suburban, once horticultural area. The former character of this place echoes today in the sound of the street names (Leguminous Street, Vegetable Street) and in the form of several greenhouses blended into the landscape.

Until recently, this was the largest housing construction area in the city. Residents living near Zwycięska Street experience daily traffic horror, but thanks to the diverse service infrastructure, they have little need to leave their neighborhoods too often. It passed the pandemic test of the ’15-minute city’ very well.

Situated partly on the site of a former military base and in the vicinity of a horse racing track, these developments were a veritable testing ground for block and terraced housing in the aesthetics of the late 1990s and 2000s, as well as for contemporary projects. Today, the estates are spilling beyond the borders of Wrocław, almost unnoticeably making their way into the village of Wysoka. A walk through these neighborhoods will become a great opportunity to create a catalog of the visual and composition design thought of the period of increased housing construction on the outskirts of large cities.
